Support & Help

We're here to help you get the most out of ChessMaster

Getting Started

Creating an Account

Sign in with your Google account (or Apple, where available). No separate password is required — authentication is handled by your provider.

Linking chess.com

Enter your chess.com username to link your account. We use chess.com's public API, so we never ask for your chess.com password. You can unlink at any time in Settings.

Syncing & Analysing Your Games

Once linked, sync pulls your games into ChessMaster. Each move is then analysed with the Stockfish engine and turned into accuracy, blunder, opening, and time-management analytics, plus AI coaching.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the analysis work?

We run the Stockfish chess engine over every move of your games. For each move it measures how much was lost versus the best move (centipawn loss) and classifies it as best, good, an inaccuracy, a mistake, or a blunder. Claude then interprets those numbers into coaching — it never replaces the engine.

Where does the engine run?

On the live site, analysis runs right in your browser using WebAssembly Stockfish after a sync — so keep the tab open while it works. A large first-time history is best analysed in one pass; new games are picked up automatically as you sync.

What data does ChessMaster collect from chess.com?

Only your publicly available game data (moves, results, ratings, openings, time controls) and public profile, retrieved through chess.com's public API. We never request your chess.com password. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Contact us and we will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Is my data secure?

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and secure authentication. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Troubleshooting

Games aren't syncing

  • Check that the correct chess.com username is linked in Settings
  • Confirm the games are on chess.com and finished (the public API only exposes completed games)
  • Sync is incremental and month-based — very recent games may take a little time to appear
  • Check whether chess.com's service is operational

Analysis isn't progressing

  • Analysis runs in your browser after a sync — keep the tab open and active
  • Large histories take time; let it run, or come back and sync again to continue
  • Try a different browser or device if the engine fails to start
